Background Information: Human TRAP1 belongs to the mitochondrial heat shock protein family. These molecular chaperones are highly conserved and play an important role in signal transduction, protein folding and degradation. Recombinant human TRAP1 has a C-terminal FLAG tag and has 702 amino acid residues. It has been identified to be protective for cell survival, and has been suggested as a target for anti-cancer therapeutics. Also can be useful for studies including enzyme kinetics, activator screening and selectivity profiling.

Background Information:
Caspase 8-associated protein 2 (also known as CASP8-associated protein 2 or CASP8AP2) is a self-associating component of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) with Caspase 8, FADD and FAS. Caspase 8 (CASP8) is a member of the caspase family and is involved in the signal transduction pathways of apoptosis, necrosis, and inflammation. CASP8AP2 suppresses NCOA2- and NCOA3-induced enhancement of glucocorticoid receptor transactivation upstream of NF-kappa-B. CASP8AP2 acts as a downstream mediator for Caspase 8-induced activation of NF-kappa-B and is required for the activation of caspase 8 in FAS-mediated apoptosis. CASP8AP2 is also required for histone gene transcription and progression through S phase.

Background Information:

Studies implicate a relationship between the expression of GABA(A) protein-like 1 to cellular growth and breast adenocarcinoma and that level of GABRAPL1 mRNA expression in breast tumor may be a good indicator of the risk of recurrence.
