KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human RAS-Related protein Ral-A.
Background Information:
RalA is a Ras-family GTPase which has a well-documented role in tumorigenesis. RalA is activated by Ras GTPases and in turn interacts with a number of effector molecules, most notably the exocyst or Sec6/8 complex . The Sec6/8 complex is an octameric structure which plays a key role in exocytosis of secretory vesicles by forming a bridge between vesicular and plasma membranes. RalA indirectly mediates this process as it is involved in the assembly of Sec6/8; RalA interacts with components of the Sec6/8 complex including Exo84 and Sec5. RalA may promote tumorigenesis through a Ras-induced pathway involved in cell transformation, actin dynamics or exocytosis.

Key Applications:
Western Blotting
Entrez Gene Summary:
The product of this gene belongs to the small GTPase superfamily, Ras family of proteins. GTP-binding proteins mediate the transmembrane signaling initiated by the occupancy of certain cell surface receptors. This gene encodes a low molecular mass ras-like GTP-binding protein that shares about 50% similarity with other ras proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: Multifuntional GTPase involved in a variety of cellular processes including gene expression, cell migration, cell proliferation, oncogenic transformation and membrane trafficking. Accomplishes its multiple functions by interacting with distinct downstream effectors. Acts as a GTP sensor for GTP-dependent exocytosis of dense core vesicles. Plays a role in the early stages of cytokinesis and is required to tether the exocyst to the cytokinetic furrow. The RALA-exocyst complex regulates integrin-dependent membrane raft exocytosis and growth signaling. Key regulator of LPAR1 signaling and competes with ADRBK1 for binding to LPAR1 thus affecting the signaling properties of the receptor. Required for anchorage-independent proliferation of transformed cells.
