Synthetic Hygromycin resistance gene in cloning plasmid
Resistance to the antibiotic hygromycin is conferred by the hph gene encoding a hygromycin B phosphotransferase isolated from an E. coli strain. The DNA sequence of this CpG-free gene was modified by optimizing the codon usage and deleting the CpG motifs without changing the amino acid sequence of the wild type protein.
The synthetic hph gene is provided in the bacterial plasmid pMOD2 which is selectable with Ampicillin. To facilitate the excision and subcloning of the synthetic hph gene into another vector, this gene is flanked by a unique restriction site at the 5’ and 3’ end.
This gene is available in pMOD2 expression plasmid selectable with Ampicillin.
