J chain antiserum can be used for the detection of polymeric IgA and pentameric IgM by Western blotting. J chain antiserum was prepared by injection of purified human J chain in rabbits. This anti-human antiserum cross-reacts with the mouse J chain and is reported to cross react with numerous other species.
